Abstract

Abstract: Since the creation of the printing press in the 1830s, crime has been a predominate topic within the media. Although a great deal of research has been conducted on various forms of media, little is known about crime books and the potential impact these may have on society. This study used text-driven content analysis to contribute to our knowledge of victims’ experiences, specifically how they view the criminal justice system, and the ways their firsthand accounts are portrayed through books. The study aimed to determine how victims portray their experiences and how victim depictions favor/differ. Alisha Ann Wilson, M.A. Department of Criminal Justice, 2015 Radford University
